Patio Garden

I thought it would be fun to try a few container plants this year.

I've wanted a lavender plant for a few years now, so I could dry the lavender and make little sachets.  So I got this lavender plant.  I really need to read up on them, I'm not sure if it's doing very well or not.

The lavender plant led to the tomato plant and other herbs.  Oregano, basil, cilantro, and Rosemary.  I'm willing to bet they need to be replanted in their own containers.  Again, I need to read.

We enjoyed our first tomato with dinner Friday night.  There is just nothing like homegrown tomatoes!  Yum

  1. Oh Yum! Your first tomato! The tomatoes look good and your herbs look really healthy. You picked everything that loves FULL sun, good where you live. Lavender gets really big, so it will need a much bigger pot. Lavender should do very well where you live - tons of sun, good air circulation, good drainage. If you have an overhang on your patio, you will need to move them out where they get sun all day & then just water everything every day since container gardens dry out faster & since you live where it's hot, that will be even more true, but you probably already know that. Happy gardening!

  2. Jane's the expert at herbs. Mine are doing OK, but in the ground. I love lavender, too. I got a little plant in the spring and it is hanging in there. Yours will probably come back next year. I'm not sure if my winters are too rough or not. My basil doesn't come back.
