First recipe from my new book failed miserably. I did it correctly and the presentation was nice. I even chopped the green onion and cilantro for garnish. I didn't mind it, but the guys said it tasted awful. It was a spicy honey glazed chicken. I think it was the honey in the sauce, apparently dh doesn't care for honey. I'm not giving up though. I will keep trying.
In addition to my plan to actually plan, I joined a fruit and veggie co-op; picked up my first bag today. For $6 I got green beans, red potatoes, oranges, fugi apples, pears, grapefruit, roma tomatoes and some kind of little red peppers, not sure what to do with those.
I will juice some of it, Brock loves to juice. I want to make green beans with the potatoes in it. I have to say I've never made "real" green beans before. I will have to search for a recipe.
wow... where did u find the co-op? Keep trying sister I'm right there with u!!!

My husband usually loves whatever I make (he ate Navy food for five years before he married me; that helped!). But there have been a few times... When something flops, it flops royally!
ReplyDeleteI would love to come help you make lists for the week! Organizing is one of my fortes. :)
The co-op sounds great. I have one for non-perishable items (grain, honey, oil, etc.) but not for produce. I've never juiced though I have a friend who does. Maybe one day!
Keep going with the recipes--you'll find some that will be your family's favorites!
Blessings,
Christine
I'm sorry your first recipe was a bust, but happy the next one was a success! There are few recipes of Leanne's we don't like; it always surprises us when one doesn't suit our family's tastebuds.
ReplyDeleteOh, you're convicting me! I really need to find a co-op. I just began mentally counting down until the Farmer's Market opens up again. I love our FM.
Easy-peasy green bean preparation: Wash the beans. Snap off the end that was attached to the plant and throw it away. In a pre-warmed skillet (medium heat), pour in a few tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO). Gently sautee some minced garlic for a minute or two, then add green beans. Salt (heartily recommend Kosher salt) and pepper to taste. Serve when veggies are heated all the way through and just beginning to soften, but not so much that they've lost their green colour and are beginning to get soggy. Yum!!!
Much luck on future meals!!! I have a delicious brussel sprouts recipe when you're ready for it (it's on my blog). Three of the four of us in this house fight over them. It's quite pathetic, actually.
Thank you for the quote from Psalms in your previous post, incidentally. It's rolling around in my mind and solidifying my resolve to stock up and do things out of mainstream thinking. It's been difficult lately, but my path is crystal clear for now. Thank you for helping with that.
Have a lovely weekend, and Bon Apetit! lol
